Special Education Department
The Office of Special Education, in compliance with Federal and State Regulations, offers a continuum of specialized instruction and support services designed to provide an appropriate educational experience for students with disabilities and those in special circumstances. The department’s mission is to ensure the right to a “free and appropriate public education, in the least restrictive environment” for all children found to have a disability. The department’s goal is to ensure that each student with a disability has the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills, and competence so that they are prepared for continuous learning and productive citizenship. The Office of Special Education includes special education teachers, speech language teachers, school psychologists, and social workers, each of whom assists in creating an educational environment conducive to academic, personal, social and career growth of all students.
