Absentee Ballot Applications

Application for absentee ballots may be made at the Office of the District Clerk. Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk no earlier than thirty (30) days before the election. Furthermore, such application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven days before the election (May 14, 2024) if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election (May 20, 2024) if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter or his/her designated agent. Upon receiving a timely request for a mailed absentee ballot, the District Clerk will mail the ballot to the address set forth in the application by no later than six (6) days before the vote. All absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the vote, May 21, 2024. If you have any questions, please contact the District Clerk at 262-6608. Persons designated by the Suffolk County Board of Elections as permanently disabled pursuant to provisions of the Election Law will automatically receive an absentee ballot and need not apply.

Early Mail Voting Applications

Voter Registration

Prospective voters can register at any District school between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., whenever school is in session, or at the Office of the District Clerk, located at the William J. Brosnan School, 158 Laurel Avenue, Room A109, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays. A special voter registration day will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Office of the District Clerk. The last day to register to vote is Thursday, May 16, 2024.
If you are a resident of the District and are registered to vote with the Suffolk County Board of Elections you are permitted to vote in school district elections as well.

Voter Qualifications

A qualified voter is one who is a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age or older, and a resident of the District for at least thirty days.

Election District 2: Those District residents living north of the center line of Pulaski Road and south of the center line of Route 25A vote at Dickinson Avenue School
Election District 3: Those District residents living north of the center line of Route 25A vote at William J. Brosnan School

Military Ballots

Annual Budget Vote and Election of Trustees

Military voters who are not currently registered may apply to register as a qualified voter of the school district. Military voters who are qualified voters of the school district may submit an application for a military ballot. Military voters may designate a preference to receive a military voter registration, military ballot application or military ballot by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail in their request for such registration, ballot application or ballot. Military voter registration forms and military ballot application forms must be received in the office of the district clerk of the school district no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 25, 2024. No military ballot will be canvassed unless it is (1) received in the Office of the District Clerk before the close of the polls on election day and showing a cancellation mark of the United States postal service or a foreign country’s postal service, or showing a dated endorsement of receipt by another agency of the United States government; or (2) received by the Office of the District Clerk by no later than 5:00 p.m. on election day and signed and dated by the military voter and one witness thereto, with a date which is associated to be not later than the day before the election.
